Do I have to wear a leotard?
The choice is yours! In classes we wear activewear. We have a range of activewear available for purchase, and 13+ members are able to wear any activewear as long as it is in our club colours (blue/black/white).
If you decide to compete in any competitions, you will need to wear an APDA leotard which can be purchased new or second hand. APDA have a range of leotards and active wear options that can be purchased in a wide variety of colours, with the addition of bling!
Do I have to compete?
Competitions are not a compulsory part of physie. We encourage all members to compete during the year because it is truely such an exciting experience, however, at the end of the day the decision is entirely up to you and what you feel comfortable with.
I did/heard about physie when I was younger. What hair/makeup/fake tan is involved these days?
When we think of physie, so many of us have this old school picture in our heads of young children covered in fake tan and makeup with giant hair. This is no longer the case!
We have lovely modern leotards which can have diamontes added to them for some extra sparkle. There are strict rules for juniors around what hair/makeup they are allowed. Juniors are not allowed to wear fake tan.
Seniors and ladies have much more freedom in their hair/makeup/tan choices and what you decide to do will come down to personal preference.
Am I too old/inexperienced for physie?
Never! Our classes and syllabus cater to ALL ages and abilities. We have classes for Tiny Tots right through to our Masters 60+ Ladies. APDA has members in their 70s and Club 2000 has members who have been with us for over 20 years!
For more information on classes available, see Class Types.
Is physie expensive?
Physie is a much more afforable dance sport than traditional dance. Although some sports such as soccer and netball may appear cheaper at first glance, it is important to remember that we have a much longer physie year (February-December) and that the prices include 2 classes per week. For more information on our fees, see the next page!
